Burgers’ Zoo
Burgers’ Zoo is an actual, real zoo and is located to the north of Arnhem and is flanked by the cities two biggest parks. Tickets to the park are included in your WordCamp ticket; you are free to wander the park whenever there isn’t anything on the program that interests you 🙂
Getting to the venue by car
There’s a large carpark available near the entrance to Burgers’ Zoo and signing for the parking is clearly marked once you see the entrance. The price for parking is free and is included in your WordCamp ticket.
You can check your route on Google Maps.
Getting there by public transport
Public transport in the Netherlands is excellent. A one-hour train ride from Amsterdam can take you straight to Arnhem central station. Getting to the venue is easy as well. Bus line 3 (marked Burgers Zoo & Openlucht museum) goes from central station to the venue every 15 to 20 minutes. The busses run until midnight.
Uber, Lyft and Taxis
Arnhem doesn’t currently have access to Uber or Lyft, but it does have regular taxi services if you prefer to use those. They are reachable on the following number: +31 26 2 60 70 80. You can pay with cash or by debit- or creditcard.
Arnhem
Contrary to the rest of the Netherlands, Arnhem isn’t flat. It’s one of our most eastern cities and is located near the German border.
Staying in Arnhem
Our venue, Burgers Zoo has an excellent list of recommended hotels and hostels to accommodate your stay.
Highlights
The city is surrounded by two of the Netherlands biggest national parks: De Hoge Veluwe and Veluwe Zoom; we highly recommend visiting these parks during your stay.
If you’re a fashion or shopping buff, we recommend checking out the various cool fashion boutiques during your stay.
The local delicacy to try (apart from the famous dutch Stroopwafels) are ‘Arnhemse Meisjes’. Which are crunchy oval biscuits made from yeast dough with a generous sprinkling of sugar.
