Sinds de eerste editie van WordCamp Nederland is de locatie vaak net zo inspirerend als de inhoud. Gezien de komende WordCamp Nederland de 10e (!) editie is, blikken we terug op vier bijzondere locatie — plekken die net zo uniek waren als de mensen die er samenkwamen.
Seats2Meet Utrecht (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015)
Onze WordCamp-avonturen kregen in het begin vorm binnen de innovatieve muren van Seats2Meet Utrecht. Deze co-working hotspot bood een warme, creatieve sfeer waarin de WordPress-community moeiteloos kon groeien.

Jaarbeurs Utrecht (2016)
Een sprong in schaal en professionaliteit maakte de editie van 2016 mogelijk: de imposante Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Grotere zalen, meer bezoekers, en een nog gevarieerder programma. Van technische sessies tot inspiratiesessies en alles daartussenin — we voelden de WordPress-energie sterker dan ooit, en dat met meer mensen dan ooit tevoren.

Burgers’ Zoo, Arnhem (2022 en 2023)
Ja, je leest het goed: een conferentie tussen giraffes en orang-oetans! In 2022 en 2023 gebeurde er iets magisch in Burgers’ Zoo. Afgewisseld door de natuur, met af en toe een nieuwsgierige giraffe op de achtergrond, kwam de community samen. De bijzondere omgeving maakte het leren, netwerken én ontspannen extra memorabel.

Madurodam, Den Haag (2024 – 2025)
En nu… de miniatuurstad zelf vormt het decor van ons nieuwste tijdbestek: Madurodam. Tussen de beroemde Nederlandse monumenten op schaal ontmoeten we elkaar met eindeloze inspiratie. De unieke setting maakt duidelijk: WordCamp NL-geluk zit in details — of je nu staat tussen mini-Rijks- of -Erasmusbrug.
Waarom die locaties ertoe doen
Voor veel WordCamp-deelnemers maken deze bijzondere locaties het verschil. Een conferentie bij een groot congrescentrum kan prima zijn, maar wanneer je omringd wordt door miniatuurkunst, exotische dieren of een innovatieve werkplek, ontstaat er iets extra’s. Die context nodigt uit tot openheid, nieuwsgierigheid en verbinding — iets waar WordCamp op draait.

Ever since the first edition of WordCamp Netherlands, the location has often been just as inspiring as the content. As the upcoming WordCamp Netherlands is the 10th (!) edition, we look back at four special locations — places that were as unique as the people who gathered there.

Our WordCamp adventures initially took shape within the innovative walls of Seats2Meet Utrecht. This co-working hotspot offered a warm, creative atmosphere in which the WordPress community could effortlessly grow.

The 2016 edition marked a leap in scale and professionalism at the impressive Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Larger halls, more attendees, and an even more varied program. From technical sessions to inspirational talks and everything in between — we felt the WordPress energy stronger than ever, and with more people than ever before.

And now… the miniature city itself forms the backdrop for our latest chapter: Madurodam. We meet amidst the famous Dutch monuments, all built to scale, sparking endless inspiration. The unique setting makes it clear: WordCamp NL happiness is in the details — whether you’re standing between a mini Rijksmuseum or Erasmus Bridge.
